Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India also granted recognition
of the Taekwondo Federation of India as an apex judicial and autonomous National
body of Taekwondo in India in 1988.The art of Taekwondo was introduced for the first
time in the National Games held at New Delhi in the year 1985.)

*     Organised 11th Inter Dist & Tricity Taekwondo Championship
       At Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic, Phase-1 Mohali. President
       Capt. Sohan Singh (Retd.), Vice Psdt. Kanwaljit Singh Walia
       & Gen. Secretary Er. Satpal Singh Rehal jointly honoured the
       Medal Winners of 35th National Tkd Championship Mumbai & 
       Presented each winner with a memento. Mohali Team Stood
       First, Amritsar team got Second Position & Patiala Tkd Team
       stood third. In Mohali Schools the Players of Green Field Smart
       School Mohali Stood First by Winning 7 Gold, 4 Silver & 5 Bonze
       Medals, Ambika Public School Wadali, Kharar got Second position,
       Gillco Int. School, Kharar Stood 3rd while Sentinel Public School,
       Sohana Players bagged 4th Position..


*     Punjab Taekwondo team participated in the 35th National
       Taekwondo Championship held at Sachivalya Gymkhana
       near Mantralya, Mumbai from Jan 22-24, 2016. In Sparring
       Punjab Tkd Players Won 6 Gold Medals { Akwinder kaur
       ( Amritsar), Daksh sharma (Mohali), Gobind Pal (Patiala),
       Rohit Kumar (Amritsar), Simranjit Singh (Hoshiar Pur), Ravish
       Vishvakarma (Mohali)}, 3 Gold( Prabhjot Kaur, Harpreet Kaur &
       Chiranshu Mehta and 13 Bronze Medals

*     Punjab Taekwondo Association ‘PTA’ Organised 18th Punjab State
       Sparring & Muye Taekwondo Championship at Golden Bells
       Smart School, Sec.-77, Mohali on November 07-08, 2015.
       The events were inaugurated by Shri Tajinder Pal Singh Sidhu,
       IAS, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of SAS Nagar, Mohali. In his
       address to the players he said Taekwondo kicks are applicable
       even if the hands of the person are caught hold by the attacker,
       He also said that he would talk to the Govt. for its promotion.
       During this Col. A.S. Rattan (Retd.) {Patron Punjab Taekwondo
       Association & Director Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic} was
       Honored for his contribution in the Promotion of Taekwondo &
       Punjab Taekwondo Association for the last 25 years.
       District Mohali Taekwondo Team won 1st position by winning
       19 Gold, 16 Silver & 20 Gold Medals while Dist. Amritsar Tkd
       Team stood second by bagging 17 Gold, 16 Silver & 12 Bronze
       Medals, Dist. Patiala Players got 3rd position by getting 10 Gold,
       13 Silver, & 13 Bronze medals. On second day the Prizes were
       given away jointly by Col. C.S. Bawa (Patron PTA, Chairman
       Golden Bells Smart school), S. Kanwaljit Singh Walia (Vice
       President PTA) Sh. Harwinder Singh & Er. Satpal Singh Rehal etc..


18th Punjab State Taekwondo Championship under PTA 'Punjab Taekwondo Association' at Mohali near Chandigarh, India

*     19th District Taekwondo Championship was organised at Guru Nanak
        VBT Polytechnic, Phases-1, Mohali on Aug 30, 2015, players of Gillco 
        International School stood First by winning 10 Gold, 2 Silver & 7 Silver 
        Medals, Ambika School , Badali Kharar got 2nd Position by getting 
        7 Gold, 2 Silver & 3 Bronze Medals, Players of Sentinel Public School, 
        Sohana won 3rd Position by getting 6 Gold, 5 Silver & 2 Bronze medals, 
        while  Players of Mata Sahib Kaur Public School got 4th Position by 
        winning 4 gold, 2 silver & 3 Bronze Medals. Prizes were distributed jointly 
        by Patron PTA Col CS Bawa, S. Kanwaljit Singh Walia (Vice Psdt. PTA),
        Sh S. Ram Advisor PTA & Er. Satpal Singh Rehal (Gen. Secretary PTA). 
        It was announced that 18th Punjab State Taekwondo Championship would 
        be organised at Mohali for the Selection  of Punjab Tkd Teams for the 
        National Taekwondo Championship.

*     The Election of Taekwondo Federation of India was held at 
       Halwasiya Court on 28th June 2015 at 3:00 p.m. The Election 
       Officer Sri Anurag Shukla, Adv. High Court conducted the Election 
       of Taekwondo Federation of India, Shri Kalraj Misra, Union Minister, 
       Government of India is elected President, Gm. Jimmy R. Jagtiani 
       Founder & Father of Taekwondo is elected Secretary General of 
       TFI respectively.

 *    17th Punjab State Sparring & Muye Taekwondo Championship
      Was organized at Bharti Palace, Khanna Rd. Samrala on May
      30-31, 2015. Mohali Taekwondo Team Bagged 1st position,
      Patiala Tkd team stood second and the team from Amritsar
      got 3rd position. On the 1st day the events were inaugurated
      jointly by Sh. Sunny Dua (MC Samrala), S. Kanwaljit Singh
      Walia( Vice Psdt. PTA) & Master Er. Satpal Singh Rehal. On
      first day the Prizes were distributed by S. Amrik Singh Dhillon
      (MLA Samrala) On  last day the prizes were distributed jointly
      by Capt. Sohan Singh (President Punjab Taekwondo Association),
      Col. CS Bawa, Ajay Pal Desawar, S. Gurdev Singh (Secy. Vishav
      Namdhari Jatha, Bhaini Sahib) etc.

*    Organised 10th Inter district & Tricity Taekwondo Championship
     At Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic, Ind. Phase-1, Mohali on
     Feb. 15, 2015. Mata sahib Kaur Public School Players Bagged
     first position by winning 9 Gold, 7 Silver & 2 Bronze Medals.
     Players of Ambika Public School, Badali, Kharar stood Second
     by winning 9 Gold, 4 Silver & 1 Bronze medals. Amritsar Team
     Got 3rd Position by getting 5 gold, 3 Silver & 3 Bronze Medals.
     Sentinel Public school, Sohana  bagged 4th position by winning
     4 Gold, 2 Silver & 4 bronze Medals. Black Belt Certificates
     Were also awarded to some senior Players ( Tirath Raj Kuwar,
     Ravish Vishwakarma & Mehta Singh Dhillon) received From
     Kukkiwon  the world Taekwondo Headquarters.. 


*   4th International Taekwondo Championship was organized
     at Pestle Weed College, Dehradun on Dec. 20-21, 2014.
     Afghanistan Team Bagged First position & won the Team
     Trophy by winning More Medals. Indian Taekwondo Team
     stood Second. Punjab Taekwondo Players Won One Gold
     (Prabhjot Kaur), Two Silver (Manpreet Kaur & Pawandeep
     Kaur)  and two Bronze Medals (Maninder Kaur & Sangeeta Devi)

*   National Taekwondo Training Camp for the Training of Selected
     Indian Team  was organised at Pestle Weed College from
     Dec. 9 - 18, 2014 for the 4th International Taekwondo
     Championship. Master Satpal Singh Rehal was appointed
     As Team India Coach.  The Camp was Very successful…

*   National Selection for 4th International Taekwondo
     Championship was held at K.D Singh Babu Stadium
     on Nov 22-23, 2014. The competitions were inaugurated
     by Sh. Damsana President U.K. Congress and the Prizes
     to the winners were Distributed by Mrs. Rita Bahuguna.
     Punjab Taekwondo Players won 4 Gold (Pawandeep Kaur,
     Prabhjot Kaur, Manpreet Kaur & Sangeeta Devi), 4 Silver
     (Daksh Sharma, Ravish Vishwakarma, Harpreet Kaur &
     Maninder Kaur) and 4 Bronze Medals (Gurcharan Preet
     Singh, Deepak singh, Manisha & Kirandeep kaur). The Gold
     Medal Winners are eligible to take part in the 4th International
     Taekwondo Championship being held at Maha Rana Pratap
     Stadium Dehradun on Dec. 20-21, 2014
 

*   Trials to select Punjab State Taekwondo Junior Male/
     Female & Senior Black Belt Male Tkd Teams for 4th
     International Taekwondo Championship was held on
     Nov. 01, 2014 at Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic, C-4,
     Industrial Area phase-1, Mohali. Following Players are
     Selected in each weight category
     Junior Male Team: Aviraj Singh, Gobind Pal, Hardeep
     Singh, Harman Singh, Preet Kamal Singh, Daksh Sharma,
     Rohit Kumar, Gurcharan Preet Singh and Deepak Singh
     Junior Female Team: Jasbir Kaur, Harpreet Kaur,
     Amanpreet Kaur, Manisha, Kirandeep Kaur, Pawan Deep
     Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Sangita Devi, Maninder Kaur and
     Prabhjot Kaur

*   34th National Taekwondo Championship was organized at
     Tyagraj Stadium New Delhi on Oct 2-4, 2014. Punjab
     Taekwondo Team participated in the Championship and won

*   16th Punjab State Taekwondo championship was held at
     Golden Bells Smart School, Sec-77, Mohali on Aug 30-31,
     2014 under Gazebo. Dist. Mohali Taekwondo Team Bagged
     1st position by winning 22Gold, 19 silver & 26 Bronze Medals.
     Dist. Amritsar Players stood second by winning 17 Gold, 7
     Silver & 11 Bronze Medals and District Ludhiana team got 3rd
     Position by winning 8 Gold, 7 silver & 5 Bronze Medals in
     Sparring Competitions.

*   18th District Taekwondo Championship was Organised at
     Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic, Phase-1, On Aug. 03, 2014.
     Gillco International Players Won 1st position, Players of
      Mohali Taekwondo Academy secured 2nd position and The
      third position of was bagged by Ambika Sen. Secy School,
      Badali. Prizes were distributed jointly by Lt. Gen. CS Bawa
      (Chairman Golden Bells School) Mohali & Kanwaljit Singh
      Walia, Vice President Punjab Taekwondo Asson.

*   Participated in the National Instructor/ Referee Seminar & 15th
     Muye National Taekwondo Championship, held at Hotel
     Elora & TAI Lucknow from May 9-11, 2014

*    9th inter District & Tricity Sparring & Muye Taekwondo
     Championship was held at Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic,
     C-4, Ind. Area, Phase-1, Mohali near Chandigarh, Punjab
     India on Feb, 16, 2014. Players of Gillco International
     School, Kharar, bagged 1st Position by winning maximum
     number of medals, Ambika Sen. Secondary School, Badali,
     Kharar, stood Second. Third position was won by Rayat
     International School, Rail Majra (Nawanshahar) and Sentinel
     Public School, Sohana got 4th Position...

*   Federation Cup All India Taekwondo Championship
     was Organized at Skating Rink, Sector-10, Chandigarh,
     on December 27-29, 2013, Grandmaster Jimmy R.
     Jagtiani inaugurated the Events. Utter Pradesh (UP)
     Tkd Team bagged First position & Won overall Trophy.
     Punjab Taekwondo Team stood second & won Runners
     up Trophy and the Haryana Taekwondo Team Got 3rd

*   Organised 15th Punjab State Taekwondo Championship
     At Golden Bells Smart School, Sec-77, Mohali near Chandigarh
     On Nov. 23-24, 2013. The competitions were inaugurated by
     S. Inder Mohan Singh, SSP Dist. Ajitgarh, Mohali. Ludhiana
     Taekwondo Team Bagged 1st position by wining maximum
     Medals Mohali Tkd team Stood Second & Patiala Team got
     3rd Position. Medals to the winners were distributed jointly
     by Lt. Col C.S. Bawa, Kanwaljit Singh Walia ( Vice Psdt. PTA),
     Sh. Vishnu Kumar Sharma, & Master Er. Satpal Singh Rehal

*   District Ludhiana Taekwondo Championship-2013
     Was organized at Geeta Bhawan, Jagraon on Sept. 28-29,
     2013, About 250 players from all over the district participated
     in the Competitions. Inauguration was done by Sh Raman
     Singh Sharma. During Prize distribution ceremony Sh Purshotam
     Lal Khlifa said that Games keeps one away from the abuse of
     Drugs & other ill habits.

*    Organised 17th District Taekwondo Championship at Guru
      Nanak VBT Polytechnic, Ind. Phase-1, Mohali on Sept. 01,
      2013. Inauguration of the events was done by Adv. Sh
      Shankar Gupta ( Ex. V. Psdt. Chandigarh Bar Association).
      Prize distribution was done by the Chief Guest Adv. Sh
      Amar Singh Chahal ( Ex. President Chandigarh Bar Association).
      By winning more medals Mohali Taekwondo Club got first
      position, Sentinel Public School, Sohana players stood
      Second and Mata Sahib Kaur School Swara players
      bagged 3rd position


*    Punjab Taekwondo Team participated in the 33rd
      National Taekwondo Championship held at Khuman
      Lampak Stadium, Imphal Manipur from June 28-30,
      2013. Punjab Taekwondo Team won
*    Punjab State Taekwondo Competitions were held at
      Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic, Industrial Area, Phase-1,
      Mohali on May 19, 2013 to select the Punjab State
      Taekwondo Teams for 33rd National Tkd Championship
      being held at Imphal, Manipur  from June 28-30, 2013.
      About 40 Players are selected to represent Punjab in
      the National

*     Organised 8th Inter District & Tricity Tkd Championship
      at Guru Nanak VBT polytechnic, Indl. Area. Mohali, on
      Feb 10, 2013.Championship was  Inaugurated by Sh.
      Harsukhinder Singh Babbi Badal ( Senior vice president
      Youth Akali Dal). Sh. Ashwani Kumar Sambhalki became
      Guest of Honour in the afternoon & Bibi Amanjot Kaur
      Ramoowalia ( Gen. Secretary Istri Akali Dal) distributed
      the prizes to the winners. By winning more number of
      Medals, Players form Ropar Bagged 1st position. Sentinel
      Public School Sohana stood Second & 3rd position was
      bagged by the players of St. Xavier’s School, Mohali

*     Punjab taekwondo Team participated in the 32nd National
      Taekwondo Championship, held at Fateh Academy, Jandiala
      Guru, Amritsar from 23rd to 25th Dec. 2013. In sparring Punjab
      Taekwondo Teams stood second by winning 11 Gold, 8 Silver
      & 10 Bronze medals in the overall Championship.

*    Organised 14th Punjab State taekwondo Championship/
      Trials at Luvdale Sen. Sec. School Loharka Road
      Amritsar from Nov. 3-4, 2012. Amritsar Dist. team got
      maximum Medals & stood fist, Ludhiana team got second
      position and Mohali team Bagged 3rd position in overall
      competitions. Selected players would participate In the
      32nd National Taekwondo Championship to be held at
      Jandiala Guru, Amritsar.

*     6 Punjab Taekwondo Players Participated in the 16th
      All India Sangam Lal Taekwondo Championship held
      at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Sept. 7- 9, 2012
      and won 2 Gold (Prabhjot Singh & Varinder Singh),
      one Silver (Manoj Kumar) & two Bronze Medals:
      (Mani Mahesh & Ajayi)

*     Organised 16th District Mohali Taekwondo
      Championship at Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic,
      industrial Area, Phase-1, on Aug. 26, 2013. Bibi
      Amanjot Kaur Ramoowalia (General Secretary, Istri
      Akali Dal) distributed the medals to the Winners.
      Selected players would be eligible to participate in
      the forthcoming 14th Punjab State Taekwondo
      Championship to be held at Amritsar.

*     5 Punjab Taekwondo Players participated in the
      Independence Cup North India Taekwondo
      Championship held at Jaipur, on 26th Aug. 2012.
      Players won 3 Gold (Parvinder Singh, Varinder
      Singh & Jatin) Medals & 2 Silver Medals:
      (Lovepreet Singh & Harshdeep Rattan) In the
      competitions.

*     Punjab Taekwondo Teams participated in the All
      India Taekwondo  Federation Cup Championship –
      2012 held at Pestle Weed College Dehradun. in
      Sparring Competitions won 2 Gold Medals:
      (Prabhjot Singh & Snehdeep Singh), 2 Silver:
      (Sahil Kumar & Varinder Singh) and 4 bronze
      Medals( Amrinder Singh, Harjot Singh, Mani
      Mahesh Bansal & Vishal). Punjab Taekwondo
      team also Participated in Muye Competitions...

*     Punjab State Trials to Select Taekwondo Teams
      on April 8, 2012, at Guru Nanak VBT, Polytechnic
      Industrial Area, Phase-1, Mohali for All India
      Federation Cup Taekwondo Championship to
      be held at Pestle Weed College, Dehradun from
      April 20-22, 2012

*     Organised 7th Inter District & Tricity Sparring
      and Muye Taekwondo Championship at Guru
      Nanak VBT Polytechnic, Indl. Area Phase-1,
      Mohali on Feb 12, 2012. Many Teams from
      nearby Districts and Tricity participated in these
       Competitions. By winnig maximum number of
      medals/Points Rayat intl School Railmajra Bagged
      1st position. Team from Chandigarh stood Second
      and with equal points sentinel Public School Sohana
      & St. Ezra intl. School Kharar got Third position

*     Punjab Taekwondo team participated in the Open
      National Taekwondo Championship- 2011 held at
      Chandan Nagar, District Hooghly West Bengal From
      Dec. 29 to Dec. 31, 2011. In Sparring Competitions
      Punjab Taekwondo Team Won 4 Gold Medals, 4 Silver
      Medals and 1 Bronze Medal the Gold Medal Winners are:
      Vishal Gill, Omkar Singh, Nahshon Digal, and Harold
      Kumar Nayak, Silver Medal Winners are: Prabhjot Singh
      Baidwan, Sanehdeep Singh, Gurkirat Singh, & Harjot

*     Punjab Taekwondo Teams Participated in the 31st National
      Taekwondo Championship held at Wadia Park Stadium
      Ahmednagar, Maharashtra from June 27 to 29 , 2011. In
      Sparring Competitions Taekwondo Players won 6 Gold
      {Prabhjot Singh (Mohali), Akhil Jha (Sangrur), Gagandeep
      Singh & Kamaldeep Kaur (Amritsar), Vishal Gill & Harold
      Kumar (Kharar) Medals, 4 Silver Medals {Jasdeep Singh
      Gill & Ravneet Singh (Mohali), Sameer Rolly & Palwinder
      Kaur (Amritsar) and 9 Bronze Medals {Harshdeep Rattan
      (Patiala), Tirath Raj, Daksh Sharma, Dawinderpal Singh &
      Uttam singh (Mohali), Raghuvir Puri & Poonam deep Kaur
      (Amritsar) & Omkar Singh & Harjot  Singh (Kharar). In Muye
      Competitions Punjab Players also won 6 Gold, 5 Silver & 5
      Bronze Medals….

      Ahamednagar, Maharashtra from June 27-29, 2011

*     Organised  6th Inter-District,  Inter-School Sparring and
      Muye Taekwondo Championship at Guru Nanak VBT
      Polytechnic, C-4, Industrial Area, Phase-1SAS Nagar Mohali,
      on 20th February, 2011. Players from Rayat International
      School, Rail Majra, won 1st Position, 2nd position was
      maintained by St. Ezra International School, Kharar and
      Sentinel Public School Sohana, got third Position

*     Organised 14th District SAS Nagar, Mohali (Sparring
      & Muye) 'B S Walia memorial' Taekwondo Championship
      at Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic, C-4, Ind. Area, Phase-1,
      Mohali on Dec. 05, 2010, Tributes were paid to the
      Departed soul of Sh B. S. Walia who was a Patron in
      Punjab Taekwondo Association and helped to promote
      Taekwondo in the Punjab State. By winning maximum
      numbers of medals in Sparring players from St. Ezra
      International School, Kharar, got 1st position, Golden
      Bells Public School, Sector 77, Sohana, Mohali stood
      second , and third position was maintained by St.
      Xaviers school, Mohali

      Akhil Jha, Prabhjot Singh, Vishwa Prem & Uttam Singh
      from Punjab participated in the Indian Team. Akhil Jha
      won Silver Medal, Uttam Singh & Vishwa Prem got
      Bronze Medals

      Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic on Feb. 14, 2010

*    Organised 13th District Taekwondo Championship at Guru
      Nanak VBT Polytechnic, C-4, Ind. Area Phase-1, Mohali on
      14th of Feb. 2010

*    Punjab Taekwondo team participated in 29th National
      Taekwondo at 35th Battalion, PAC Mahanagar, Lucknow
      from 29th to 31st January, 2010

*    Organised 11th Punjab State Taekwondo Championship
      (Sparring & Muye) at Lawerance Public school, Mohali
      from 29th to 30th August  2009. By winning maximum
      number of medals Mohali Taekwondo team stood first,
      Amritsar Team got second position and Ludhiana Team
      bagged 3rd position in the overall Championship

*     Punjab taekwondo Players won 5 Gold, 6 Silver and 2 Bronze
      Medals  in the 26th National Taekwondo Championship held at
      Netaji Subhash Stadium, Sports Authority of India complex,
      Salt Lake, Kolkata in January 2008.

*     Punjab State Taekwondo Team captured the top Position in the
      23rd junior & Sub-Junior National Taekwondo Championship
      Held at Juhari Devi Girls Inter College, Kanpur. Punjab
      emerged at the top of the Table by winning 10  Gold Medals
      (Vishal Arya, Sukhwinder Singh, Rajnish Rana, Pawan Sagar,
      Jatin Chaudhary, Rishav Sharma, Suprya Jamwal, Manu wala,
      Mamta Rani & Amandeep Kaur. 5 Silver Medals (Vipan, Shubhan
      Sharma, Navdeep Singh, Shagun & Karitika. 4 Bronze Medals
      (Ankush Bhagat, Mandeep Singh Sunil Sharma & Navroop Kaur.
      Haryana stood second in the overall Championship. Jalandhar
      Tkd Players played a major role in the success of Punjab Team.
      All the players of Punjab team showed good discipline & participated
      With great amount of zeal.

*     Organised 7th Punjab state Taekwondo Championship at
      Shiwalik Public School, phase-6, & Guru Nanak VBT
      Polytechnic Mohali near Chandigarh on May 1-2, 2004. The
      Competitions were inaugurated jointly by Sh. D.S. Bedi & Sh.
      Harinderpal Singh Billa (Ex-President MC Mohali) & the
      Prizes were distributed by Sh. Gurmeet singh ( President
      Mohali Industries Association). District Ropar Tkd Team
      Bagged the top slot while Jalandhar team bagged the second
     & Bathinda had to settle with third spot. Sukhwinder Singh of
      Jallandhar & Shakti Sen of Mohali Chandigarh were declared
      The Best Players of the tournament.     





*     Organised 5th Punjab State Colour Belt Senior, Junior & Sub –
      Junior Taekwondo Championship at indoor Stadium, Govt.
      College Muktsar on July 13-14, 2002. Jalandhar Tkd Team
      Won first position. Muktsar Taekwondo players stood Second
      & District Ropar team got third position in the overall competitions.
      Vishal Arya of Jalandhar District was declared best player of
      the Event. All the Gold medalists of this C’ship would take part
      in the 20th Sub-junior & Junior National Taekwondo Champioship
      to be held at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium Delhi from July 26-
      28, 2002.

*     Organised 4th Punjab State Taekwondo Championship at
      Govt. College Ropar on Jan 6-7, 2001.
 


*     Organised 3rd Punjab State Colour Belt Senior, Junior &
      Sub-junior Taekwondo Championship at multipurpose hall
      Govt. College Ropar on Dec. 4 - 5, 1999. District Ropar
      (Rupnagar) Tkd players bagged 1st position while Jalandhar
      team stood second. The winners of this championship would
      take part in the National Taekwondo Championship scheduled
      to be held at Ajmer from 17th  to 19 Dec. 1999. Taekwondo
      teams from Amritsar, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala,
      Patiala, Ropar, Nawanshahar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib,
      Muktsar, Bathinda, Sangrur, Gurdaspur & Ferozepur etc.
      participated in These competitions.

*     Organised 2nd Punjab State Taekwondo Championship at
      Shivalik Public School & Guru Nanak VBT Polytechnic
      Mohali on Aug 8-9, 1998. The Competitions were inaugurated
      by Mahant Gurdial Singh Chairman Bakfinco. Prizes were
      distributed by MP Smt. Satwinder Kaur Dhaliwal. Jalandhar
      Tkd Team Stood First by winning 21 Gold, 11 Silver & 6
      Bronze medals & Coach Baljit Singh was honored with First
      Team Trophy . Kulwinder Kumar of Jalandhar was declared
      best Player of the Competitions. The selected players would
      take part in the 18th National Senior & Sub-Junior Taekwondo
      Championship being held at  K.D. Singh Babu  Stadium
      Lucknow On Aug 16-18, 1998 & 18th Junior Male Female
      Taekwondo Championship being held at Kurukshetra
      University From Aug. 24-26, 1998.

*     We Organised 1st Punjab State Taekwondo Championship
      at Govt. College Ropar on Sept. 27-28, 1997. Tkd teams
      from District Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Ropar
      (Rupnagar), Bathinda, Gurdaspur, Nawanshahar, Ludhiana,
      Fatehgarh Sahib, Amritsar, Sangrur, Patiala & Ferozepur etc.
      participated in the competitions. Distt. Jalandhar Taekwondo
      players stood first by bagging 9 Gold, 14 Silver & 5 bronze
      medals out of total 120 medals. Dist. Hoshiarpur Tkd players
      stood second by winning 13 Gold, 3 silver & 4 bronze medals.
      Host Ropar team got third position by winning 5 Gold, 5 Silver
      & 6 Bronze medals. Overall Trophy was won by Dist.
      Jullundhar Team. Krishan Singh from Mohali Chandigarh
      Was declared Best Player in Males & Upma Kala from
      Jallandhar in females. The Competitions were organized

In the year 1975, Taekwondo was introduced in India by Grand Master Jimmy R.
Jagtiani. On 2nd Aug. 1976, the Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) was formed
and established as a National Body of Taekwondo in India.On 2nd August 1977,
the first anniversary of Taekwondo Federation of India was organized with a
demonstration of high power techniques at the K.D. Singh Babu Indoor Stadium.
The students trained by Grandmaster Jimmy specially Mr. Inder Kumar Singh and
Mr. Dinesh Kumar Singh both are Senior most student along with Police personals
and others entered the Arena and enhanced the viewers by their superb performance,
which was inaugurated by none other than the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea,
His Excellency Mr. Bum Suk Lee., and Dr. Banarsi Das Gupta was the Chief Guest.
 
The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) accorded affiliation to
the Taekwondo Federation of India in 1978, the Asian
Taekwondo Union (ATU) in 1982, the Indian Olympic Association
(IOA) in 1985 and the South Asian Taekwondo Federation (SATF)
in 1994 respectively. The Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government
of India also granted recognition of the Taekwondo Federation of India as an
apex judicial and autonomous National body of Taekwondo in India in 1988.
The art of Taekwondo was introduced for the firsttime in the National Games held
at New Delhi in the year 1985. The TFI arranged special demonstration by the
Korean Experts in the premises of the Prime Minister’s resident, New Delhi on 17th
March 1986. ThePrime Minister late Hon’ble RajivGandhi had witnessed the
demonstration. He was so impressed that he promised to extended all possible
help to the Taekwondo Federation of India, resulting in recognition of
the Taekwondo Federation of India in 1988 by the
Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of
India with the authority to have its corresponding Units in all States and
Union territories of India. The National Institute of Sports (N.I.S.)
allowed scholarship benefits to the meritorious sports persons of
Taekwondo. The Government of India further allowed employment
to the meritorious sports persons of Taekwondo against sports quota
vacancies in relaxation of the direct recruitment rules. The Sports
Authority of India (S.A.I) adopted Taekwondo in its syllabus for
coaching Instructor and the Railway Department extended
concession for the Taekwondo players participating in the
National & State Taekwondo Championship.
 
The TFI granted affiliation to the Services Sports Control Board
(S.S.C.B.) in 1990, the Taekwondo Academy of India in 1990, Army
Sports Control Board (A.S.C.B.) in 1992, the Central Industrial
Security Force (CISF), in 1995.
The Taekwondo Academy of India (TAI) assigned to look after the technical
matter such as promotion of Taekwondo philosophy, development of
Techniques, Dan Promotion Test, Degree, produced National Instructor
as per the curriculum of Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarter,
Korea. The Taekwondo Federation of India has its affiliated members
Association in States/Union Territories/Boards with more than 2.0 Lakh
enthusiasts who practice Taekwondo regularly.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) adopted Taekwondo sport
as one of the official events in 1980. The World Taekwondo Federation

Under the Promotional Schemes” of the Taekwondo Federation of India,
the TFI had produced more than 10000 Black Belt Holders, 3000 National
Instructors, 2500 National Referees and more than 2,00.000 trainees all
over India. Our target is to increase 50% in the next 5 years plan.
